Music Feature: The Traveller Across Dimensions / Ben&Ben

Magandang gabi po!

From Overseas Philippines is a Filipino radio program broadcasting on Thursday every two weeks from 8 P.M. with DJ Cindy & Mina.

In this week's edition, DJ Mina picks-up Ben&Ben's 2024 álbum [The Travellers Across Dimensions]. As we often play their songs in the program, you might know them already.

They are an indie folk-pop band from Manila. They were formed in 2016 by twin brothers Paolo and Miguel Benjamin Guico. Although they have released only 3 albums so far, Ben&Ben have received numerous accolades, including an Asia Artist Award, an Aliw Award, a NME Award, two Myx Music Awards, three Star Awards, and sixteen Awit Awards.

Whey they released the álbum [The Travellers Across Dimensions] last November, they promoted it on Spotify's digital Billboard in Times Square in New York City.

Filipino Lesson June 2025

The aired program is being rebroadcasted for a week in radio Radiko, an internet-based radio (https://radiko.jp):
https://radiko.jp/share/?sid=CCL&t=20250612200000

Every first broadcast of the month, our program gives a friendly and easy-to-learn Filipino lesson. We dedicate the program to all who would like to learn the Filipino language, particularly to those of Filipino descent.

Key Words (JUNE 2025):
Haba – long (長い); length (長さ); extent of (程度)
幅 – width (lapad)

Dialog in Filipino (JUNE 2025):
C: Neriza, kanina ka pa ba? Ipinarada ko ang kotse sa malayo.
N: Walang problema, Cindy.
N: Para tayong nasa habihan..... Ang dami ng mga sinulid at tela sa paligid!
C: Sino kaya iyong taong parang nanghahaba ang leeg?
N: Ahh, si Diego iyan!!! Tatlong oras na tayong hinihintay!

Dialog in English (JUNE 2025):
C: Neriza, have you been waiting here for a while? I parked the car somewhere far.
N: No problem, Cindy. I just arrived because there’s a long queue at the exit of the station.
C: Do you remember the Expo 2005 in Aichi prefecture?
N: The queue was long at the stall for young coconut, we endured it!
C: It was worth it because the fresh young coconut is delicious!
N: The Expo gives me a sense of nostalgia because I remember my late aunt, Tia Liling! She was assigned to the Expo 70 in Suita City.
C: With your length of stay here, you must have been to the other Expo.
N: Yes, of course!
C: Hey, it seems we can now enter the Philippine’s pavilion with the theme of “Nature, Culture & Community — Woven Together for a Better Future.”
N: Let’s go. it’s beautiful!
C: You will be swept away by the beauty.
N: Seems like we’re in a loom..... there’s so many threads and fabrics around.
C: And who is that person seems to be waiting with bated breath?
N: That’s Diego! He has been waiting for us for three hours.
