From Overseas India is a Hindi program on FM COCOLO broadcasting every Sunday morning from 5 to 6 am.

In this week's edition, DJ Sunny Francis picks-up Swarnalatha, a playback singer of South India, in a career spanning almost 22 years from 1987 until her death in 2010, she recorded over 10,000 songs. She is referred to as The Queen Of Tones.

Swarnalatha was the first female playback singer to fetch the National Award under A. R. Rahman's music direction.

Hariharan started his singing career in 1977. He rose to fame in the 90s. He entered the world of Tamil films in 1992 introduced by debutant music director A. R. Rahman with the patriotic song "Thamizha Thamizha" in Maniratnam's film Roja.

In 1998, Hariharan won the first National Film Award for the best playback singer for the soulful rendition of the song "Mere Dushman Mere Bhai" from the Hindi film Border, composed by Anu Malik...

As everybody knows, Asha Bhosle is a younger sister of great Lata Mangeshkar. Asha seems underestimated because Lata is too good. Asha's somewhat more nasal voice has a huskiness that Lata lacks. There might be more people who love Asha's singing than Lata's.
