In this week's edition, Mina picks-up Ogie Alcasid as featured OPM artist. he was  honored for his contributions to OPM through the KDR Icon of Music Excellence in January. We play classic songs from his career spanning over 35 years.

Every 2nd week of the month, our program gives a friendly and easy-to-learn Filipino lesson. We dedicate the program to all who would like to learn the Filipino language, particularly to those of Filipino descent.

ABRA – a province in the Cordillera Administrative Region of the Northern part of the Philippines (フィリピン北部のコルディリェラ行政地域にある州)

N: Talaga? Ibibigay mo sa akin? Paborito ito ng pamangkin ko.
C: Iuwi mo na. Magmeryenda na tayo!
N: Naku, gusto ko iyang hinanda mo. Turon!
C: Ingat at napakainit pa niyan. Kapiprito pa lang. Patuluin natin pa ng kaunti iyung mantika.

Dialog in English (APRIL 2025):
N: Wow! Your living room’s interior is very nice!
C: Of course, I use products made from woven Ikat.
N: Ahhh…. These are the ones you bought from the trade fair in Abra
C: You’re right, That’s one of our native dyed and woven cloth with patterns.
N: Are they dyed differently?
C: Yes! The thread used for Ikat are dyed using resistant dyeing techniques.
N: Seems like this stuffed toy is made from woven Ikat?
C: That’s Abra. It’s a psychic-type Pokemon of Generation 1. My friend from Abra made it.
N: It’s awesome!
C:  Do you want it? It’s yours.
N: Really? Will you give it to me?
C: Take it home. Let’s snack!
N: Oh, I like what you prepared. Turon!
C: Careful and it’s still very hot. It’s newly fried. Let’s drain the oil a bit more.
