Traditions in the new year in Japan[1.13 thu]

Almost two weeks has passed since the new year
began. You might have missed chances to go to
'hatsumoude', but it is never too late.

There is a word 'matsunouchi'. It is a period of
time 'kadomatsu' is decorated in front of homes
to welcome ancestral spirits of the harvest.

In Kanto area it is until 7/Jan, but in Kansai
it is until 15/Jan. So if you have not been to
'hatsumoude', you had better go until the day
after tomorrow.
