Every 2nd week of the month, our program gives a friendly and easy-to-learn Filipino
lesson. We dedicate the program to all who would like to learn the Filipino language,
particularly to those of Filipino descent.


Key Words (APRIL 2024):
Sirang Plaka – literally: broken record (直訳では「壊れたレコード」), means repeat over and over again (意味は「何度も繰り返し」)
Sira – Broken (壊れた), out of order (故障)
Plaka – music record (音楽レコード); Car plate number (車のナンバープレート) 


Dialog in Filipino (APRIL 2024):
C: Neriza, nagustuhan ko ang presentasyon mo noong isang buwan sa Kapihan 5 para sa “Araw ng mga Kababaihan”.
N: Sana nga ay naipaliwanag kong mabuti ang proyekto ng mga kababaihan sa Pilipinas para sa “World Earth Day”.
C: Kaya lang sira ang projector namin kaya hindi natin naipakita ang video na inihanda mo.
N: Walang problema iyon. Magagamit ko iyon sa panel discussion sa Osaka International House ngayong Abril.
C: Gusto mo bang imbitahin si Konsehal Numero “Uno” Lim? Mahusay rin ang mga proyekto niya tungkol sa mga plastic bags at paglilinis ng mga estero sa pangalawang distrito ng Metro Manila.
N: Kilala ko siya! Pinakabatang konsehal ng Tondo! Balita ko ay numero uno rin ang plaka ng kotse niya.
C: Hay naku Neriza, ganyan din ang sabi ng iba! Saan ba galing ang balitang iyon? Parang sirang plaka!
N: Ewan ko!! Pero, Kakaiba pati pangalan ng mga anak niya ...Una at Dua!!!
C: Aba, nalaglag ang plaka ng pagpapahalaga na natanggap mo sa plaka ng musikang Pinoy.
N: Eh, magiging sirang plaka na iyan!

Dialog in English (APRIL 2024):
C: Neriza, I liked your presentation last month in “Kapihan 5” for Women’s Day.
N: I hope that I was able to explain well the project of the womenfolk in the Philippines for World Earth Day.
C: But our projector was out of order, so we couldn’t show the video you prepared.
N: That’s not a problem. I can use it for a panel discussion at Osaka International House this April.
C: Would you like to invite Councilor Numero Uno Lim? His projects on plastic bags and cleaning the drainage canals in the 2nd District of Metro Manila are good.
N: I know him. He’s the youngest councilor and his car’s plate number is 1, too!
C: Well, Neriza, that’s what the others say, too. Where did that news come from? Sounds like a broken record.
N: I don’t know but even his children’s names are unique…..Una and Dua.
C: Oh, the plaque of appreciation you received fell on the record of Filipino music!
N: So, it will become a broken record!

N: Ahhh ... Turtle soup at green Haribo turtle gummy!!!
C: Turtle soup??? Naku, baka lalong bumagal pa ako sa lakad pagong!
N:  Malusog na pagkain iyan! Siguradong lalakas ang mga tuhod mo at bibilis ang lakad mo.

Dialog in English (MARCH 2024):
C: Neriza, thanks for going with Sandy and Jono to Okinawa!
N: That’s alright! I didn’t have any commitment then and it was good for me to walk along the beach although slow paced!
C: Sandy also recounted that you scolded the children playing with a turtle!
N: Because it’s such a pity for the turtle. They were pulling it to walk faster.
C: I remember the story of Urashima Taro!
N: I told the kids to return it to the sea or else the mermaids will get them!
C: So, you frightened the children! By the way, what are these souvenirs you gave me?
N: Ohh.. Turtle soup and Haribo green turtle gummy!!
C: Turtle soup??? Oh my, I might walk slower than the turtle!
N:  That’s a healthy food! Your knees are sure to get stronger and you will walk faster.

In this week's edition of the program, Mina picks-up Bamboo as featured artist. Popularly known as Bamboo Mañalac or simply by the mononym Bamboo, is a Filipino musician and singer-songwriter. He began his career as vocalist and original frontman of Rivermaya and later fronted his own band, Bamboo. Bamboo band disbanded in 2011 and Mañalac then pursued a solo career.

It is a bit confusing if Bamboo indicates the name of the singer or the band...
